As if mommy guilt wasn’t enough, I suffer from another condition I like to call Self-Inflicted Housekeeping Shame. I am at home all day, so why is my house still a mess? I kid myself into believing I should be able to keep on top of all the cleaning jobs as well as earn a full-time income. In a normal work day, there are many wasted minutes, chatting around the water cooler or celebrating a co-worker’s birthday, and I feel as though I should be able to put those bonus minutes to good use by tackling some small housework duties. But the problem is, once distracted by a load of laundry or a pile of dirty dishes, it then takes ages to get back into the swing of the work tasks I was supposed to be concentrating on.
But that also means that when I am at work, I am going to ignore everything else—save for kissing boo-boos that only mommy can make better, that is. When I am hustling in my home office, I am going to focus on reaching my professional goals, and earn the big bucks all while still wearing my pyjamas, and I am also going to cut myself some slack, because however and wherever you work, and we all work, being a mom is a job.

When I was starting my first business, I was wondering if entrepreneurs used any tools to make their life better. Despite having no experience, I was convinced that they had some magic tools that could boost their productivity and make their ventures easier. After a while, I realised there is nothing magical to them but they can make your work easier and increase your productivity. For that reason, I’m quite happy to share those with you. Some of them are obvious, some are less known.
As search engines have become more prominent, some affiliate marketers have shifted from sending e-mail spam to creating automatically generated web pages that often contain product data feeds provided by merchants. The goal of such web pages is to manipulate the relevancy or prominence of resources indexed by a search engine, also known as spamdexing. Each page can be targeted to a different niche market through the use of specific keywords, with the result being a skewed form of search engine optimization.
This is different to the traditional static website user experience, which requires users to reload pages to take action, such as submitting a review. Such a scenario may seem like a minor inconvenience, but it creates a speedbump for customers that will cause some of them to bounce from the page, meaning you lose out on potential conversions. Micro-interactions help level out these speed bumps and provide users with richer interactions.
What do you think you could honestly sell customers in the hopes that it would improve their day-to-day? For example, maybe you renovate homes and are always looking for the highest-quality paints or most eco-friendly cleaning solutions for bathrooms and kitchens. If you’re already knowledgeable about a market and have interest in it, that’s a great place to start.
You don’t just want any ol’ customer-service job. No, you want to be a smashing success. In this fast-paced position, you’ll be the point of contact to answer merchant questions. You should be able to determine the best plan and proactively identify growth opportunities that will help the merchant’s business skyrocket. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial flair, two-plus years of customer-service experience, and an inquiring mind to find solutions for specific issues.
During my time in Chile, I was inspired by the book The Startup of You by LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman and Ben Casnocha. The book basically argues that to succeed in a rapidly changing world and fiercely competitive global economy we all need to develop entrepreneurial traits and treat our careers like a startup. I think this is excellent advice as the new career trajectory seems to include a mix of salaried employment and project-based contract work.
There is serious competition in the affiliate marketing sphere. You’ll want to make sure you stay on top of any new trends to ensure you remain competitive. Additionally, you’ll likely be able to benefit from at least a few of the new marketing techniques that are constantly being created. Be sure you’re keeping up to date on all these new strategies to guarantee that your conversion rates, and therefore revenue, will be as high as possible.
Cookie stuffing involves placing an affiliate tracking cookie on a website visitor's computer without their knowledge, which will then generate revenue for the person doing the cookie stuffing. This not only generates fraudulent affiliate sales but also has the potential to overwrite other affiliates' cookies, essentially stealing their legitimately earned commissions.
The internet, however, was a different story entirely. It ranks alongside the automobile in terms of impact on the way we live, work and communicate. With the outlandish success of companies like Amazon and eBay, came the growing realisation that ordinary people had access to customers from all over the world.
